Just look at the features Radiant Heat has to offer

  • Radiant floor heat is economical - heating the house and contents - not heating the air first (both hot air and baseboards heat the air first. This reduces your operating costs by 20% to 40% or more!
  • Radiant floor heat is quiet, clean and healthy, requiring no blown air that can distribute dust and pollen to trigger allergies.
  • Radiant floor heat is warm not hot. No hot surfaces that can burn your skin or discolor fabrics.
  • Radiant floor heat is hidden—there are no bulky radiators, registers or ventilation ducts to interfere with furniture or traffic flow.
  • Radiant floor heat is COMFORTABLE radiating heat to you and your surroundings, warming you from the bottom up and ending cold feet forever!
  • Radiant floor heat is recognized as the quality leader and adds appreciably value of your home.
  • Radiant floor heat is the easiest heating system to install, if you have the proper instructions.

Radiant floor heat is more comfortable than forced air because it concentrates the heat in the lower part of the room where occupants are.

There are three kinds of heat transfer

  • Convective

Air is warmed and in turn warms the room. Convective transfer is affected by gravity and air movement (infiltration).

Accomplished by contact, i.e. feet contacting a warm floor. Conductive transfer is affected by gravity, conductive heat rises.

Accomplished by radiation or emission of energy of a wave length not visible to the human eye. Best example would be warmth felt from the sun. It heats objects and is not affected by gravity or air movement. In a convectively heated room the thermostat must be set to 74 degrees to keep feet warm. Both forced-air and hot water baseboard are convective and the air is warmer the higher in the room you go. In a radiant floor heated room the thermostat can be set at 65 degrees. Feet are conductively satisfied with the 70-72 degree floor. Being able to set a lower thermostat results in a lower bill at the end of the month! People are more comfortable in the, more efficient, radiant floor heated environment.
